Does your job make you susceptible to disturbing asbestos containing materials (ACM)? Do you employ people who are likely to disturb asbestos whilst carrying out their normal duties? If you answer yes to either of these questions, then you need to book an asbestos awareness course or annual refreshers.

What’s the course content?

Our course is delivered using a PowerPoint presentation. We want you to interact. Throughout the day there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and compare experiences. Towards the end of the course all participants complete a multiple choice test.

The course syllabus covers the following topics:

  • What is asbestos? We cover the history of asbestos, its properties and uses.
  • Health issues. We discuss the health hazards and risks associated with asbestos.
  • ACM products. We cover what are the common ACMs. Where they are likely to be found and how to identify them.
  • Asbestos registers and surveys. We explain what they are and the types.
  • Legislation. We provide an overview of the regulations surrounding asbestos and your duties.
  • Emergency decontamination procedures. What to do if you discover or disturb asbestos.
  • Annual reminders. We can provide annual reminders for your refresher courses. Find out how to get these.

This course is an awareness only course and does not prepare delegates to work with asbestos. You would need further training for this. If needed, we can provide advice on what course would best suit you.

How long will it take?

The asbestos awareness course is a half day course. We can provide both morning and afternoon slots to best suit your needs.

Certification

On completion of the course, candidates get a certificate. This certificate is valid for twelve months. After this time there is a legal requirement for delegates to attend an annual refresher course.

How much does it cost?

The course is £125.00 + VAT per delegate.

Discounts are available for group bookings. Please contact us for a quote if you are looking to book multiple delegates.

Where will my training take place?

Training venues near to you

We understand that you and your companies are busy. Travelling to courses can make investing in your training costly. We like to bring the training venues to you. We have agreements in place with a range of venues throughout Cornwall and Devon and can book training rooms near to your business.

We also arrange a number of training courses throughout the year. Contact us to check our upcoming course dates.

Who will deliver my training?

Courses delivered by asbestos industry experts…

Many asbestos awareness courses are delivered by generic training companies. In contrast, our training courses are delivered by one of our asbestos consultants. They hold a combination of BOHS P401, P402, P403, P404 and S301 qualifications. They are knowledgeable and have years of experience of working with asbestos.

This in depth knowledge is what sets us apart from our competitors and may be why you chose us. We can bring our practical experience to the course. We are experienced in managing situations where asbestos has been discovered and disturbed. There is no question that we will be unable to answer.
